UP NCTS Conducts 20th Offering of Road Safety Audit Training Course

The University of the Philippines National Center for Transportation Studies (UP NCTS) successfully conducted the 20th offering of the Training Course on Road Safety Audit from March 23 to 27, 2026 at UP NCTS in UP Diliman, Quezon City.

The five-day training brought together professionals and practitioners from local government units, government agencies, and private organizations to strengthen their knowledge of road safety audit as a proactive approach to improving road infrastructure and reducing safety risks for all road users.

The program consisted of six instructional modules and two workshop sessions, with Dr. Jun T. Castro, Engr. Judith Tagle-Pagdatoon, Engr. Mary Ann Tagle, Mr. Sahid A. Kamid, Mr. Glenn Simon D. Latonero, Engr. Aileen U. Mappala, Dr. Sandy Mae A. Gaspay, Engr. Mathew Harvey Peralta, and Engr. John Jowhell Villegas serving as speakers and facilitators.

As part of the workshop activities, participants conducted a road safety audit of selected road sections within the UP Diliman campus, including Area 2, Juan Luna, Laurel Avenue, and portions of the Science Complex and Engineering Complex, as well as the detailed engineering design of Palaris Road.

The training was attended by 45 participants from various local government units, agencies, and organizations, including representatives from Baguio City, Batac City, Bayawan City, Cabanatuan City, Davao City, Ilagan City, Isabela City, Puerto Princesa City, Laoag City, Quezon City, MMDA, Metro Pacific Tollways South, DCCD Engineering Corporation, SLEX/MATES, and Victorias City.

Through this milestone 20th offering, UP NCTS continues to strengthen capacity in road safety and transportation practice in support of safer and more sustainable road systems.
