The National Center for Transportation Studies (NCTS) welcomes two (2) master’s students from Hasselt University (UHasselt), Belgium, Martelarenlaan 42, 3500 Hasselt, to undergo an internship. The students are majoring in Traffic Safety, under the Master of Transportation Sciences Program, and recipients of the VLI-RUOS Scholarship.
As part of their graduate program and scholarship requirements, students are required to intern at a transportation agency or organization in their home country. UHasselt’s internship program aims to familiarize students with real-life applications of transportation sciences and provide an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have gained during their studies in the field. The students are Filipinos and their topics of interest include sustainable transport, integrated transport systems, and road safety, which are the advocacies of the Center.
The NCTS, through its Internship Program, aims to provide practical experience in conducting research and producing knowledge products. Additionally, it aims to develop the learners’ competencies, values, and work ethics.
An orientation for the students regarding expectations, guidelines, and implementing details was held on October 6, 2026, given by Ms. Maribelle Lobendino, NCTS Research, Extension and Professional Staff (REPS) and Student Affairs Coordinator. The students will stay at the Center from October 5 to December 18, 2026 and will be assigned at the Traffic Engineering and Management (TEM) Group. A courtesy call with Dr. Jun Castro, NCTS Director, was held on the same day.
