On May 28, SN Aboitiz Power (SNAP) launched its “iTravel Safer” campaign, a key initiative under its Life Saving Rules, aimed at minimizing road incidents and promoting a culture of transportation safety among employees. The launch was held simultaneously at SNAP’s corporate headquarters in BGC, Taguig, and operational sites in Benguet and Isabela through a hybrid set-up. As SNAP expands its renewable energy footprint across the country, the campaign highlights the company’s commitment to keeping its workforce safe amid increased exposure to road hazards.

To set the tone for the event, Mr. Sahid Kamid from the UP National Center for Transportation Studies (UP NCTS) served as the keynote speaker. Representing the Center and its Traffic Engineering and Management – Road Safety Research Laboratory (TEM–RSRL), Mr. Kamid emphasized that road crashes are not random events, but rather predictable and preventable occurrences that can be addressed through proper systems and interventions. He discussed the current state of road safety in the Philippines, referencing the Philippine Road Safety Action Plan 2023–2028 and the Safe System Approach, while underlining the critical roles of companies, drivers, and systems in reducing transport risks. He also shared practical ways employees can contribute, such as practicing defensive driving, reporting incidents effectively, and staying mindful of vehicle maintenance.
SNAP’s “iTravel Safer” campaign focuses on implementing stricter vehicle safety standards, requiring certified and capable drivers, promoting accountability, and leveraging data to monitor and improve safety performance. Through this initiative, SNAP not only strengthens its internal transport safety culture but also joins broader national and global efforts to reduce road traffic injuries and deaths. As Mr. Kamid concluded: “Every safe trip is a win—road safety is everyone’s job.”
