A productive meeting was held on April 30, 2024 between the 3M Philippines and the National Center for Transportation Studies (NCTS) to discuss possible activities and programs to be implemented in the Center as well as the University. Several plans and projects were identified during the meeting from research projects to sponsorship of materials. One possible project is the enhancement and augmentation of the traffic signs and pavement markings of standard design in the UPD Campus.
Present during the meeting were Engr. John Zenon Vallinan, Application Specialist – Transportation Safety Commercial Branding & Transportation Division and NCTS Research, Extension and Professional Staff (REPS).
Recently, 3M Philippines accommodated NCTS staff as well as some staff from the UP CMO and UP TMO, for a technical tour at the 3M Customer Technical Center (CTC) located at Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City. Two (2) batches were conducted (October 2023 and March 2024), where the participants had a fascinating glimpse into the world of innovation, creativity, and practicability of 3M. The tour objective is to learn how signs are manufactured and about new technologies related to road signs and pavement markings. Certificates of participation were provided to the participants for attending the 3M Road Safety Workshop.
