Highlights from the Culmination of the USYD Collaboration with NCTS

Congratulations to the three (3) undergraduate engineering students from the University of Sydney (USYD) for completing the research collaboration with NCTS as its partner organization and for presenting their outputs, learnings, and experiences at the Center!

The students were assigned at the Training Group and worked in NCTS on predesigned project briefs, aligned with both their skill level and the needs of the partner organization. Each student completed approximately 100 hours on the projects during the program.

The Culminating Activity was held on February 3, 2026, at the NCTS ITS Room. The collaboration was done from January 12-26, 2026, fulfilling the full 6-credit point course of study, equivalent to a full-time work week of 37.5 hours, plus completion of assessments.

The event was hosted by Ms. Maribelle Lobendino, NCTS Research, Extension and Professional Staff (REPS) and Student Affairs Coordinator. NCTS Director Dr. Jun Castro delivered the welcome remarks. The event was also attended by NCTS personnel, college interns, and representatives from the University of Sydney (USYD).

During the collaboration, the students focused on conceptual designs and/or research methodologies that they utilized in delivering a useful product via a final report. They experienced interviews or surveys and other participatory approaches that they used as research data.

Again, congratulations Arnav, Jessica and Nhi and good luck in your future endeavors!
