UPDATED: [FREE WEBINAR] Modernizing Public Transportation in the Philippines: Opportunities, Challenges, and Lessons Learned from the PUVMP

The Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) aims to improve the public
transportation system in the Philippines by modernizing the country’s aging public utility
jeepneys (PUJs) and replacing them with safer, more efficient, and environment-friendly
vehicles.

The PUVMP aims to modernize and upgrade the country’s public transportation system. It
seeks to replace old and dilapidated jeepneys with newer and more environment-friendly
vehicles that are safer, more comfortable, and more efficient. However, the program has
faced significant challenges and criticisms from various groups and individuals, including
jeepney drivers, operators, and other stakeholders.
Given the importance of the PUVMP to the country’s transportation infrastructure and the
complexity of the issues involved, there is a need for more public discussion and dialogue on
the topic. It could serve as a platform for discussing the challenges and opportunities of the
program, as well as good practices and lessons learned from transport
cooperatives/corporations that have cases of early successful implementation.
