The SULONG REPS 2025 Colloquium brought together UP Diliman’s Research, Extension, and Professional Staff to highlight their work in support of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. This year’s theme, “Advancing Knowledge, Empowering Communities,” guided the plenary and parallel sessions, which emphasized how REPS-led initiatives advance research, extension programs, and professional services that promote sustainable communities, environmental resilience, and inclusive development.
NCTS REPS actively participated in the colloquium by presenting research aligned with mobility, transport safety, and community well-being. Mr. Sahid Kamid received the Best Oral Presentation Award for Session 1, Inclusive Innovation, Sustainable Livelihoods, and Economic Development, for his study “Risk Factors and Behavioral Predictors of Motorcycle Near Crashes, Crashes, and Informal Settlements,” which he co-authored with Mr. Glenn Simon D. Latonero, Dr. Sandy Mae A. Gaspay, Engr. Reyna Joie Q. Remotin, and Ms. Cheryl M. Brides.
Meanwhile, Mr. Glenn Latonero delivered a presentation titled “Implementation of Road Safety Interventions for Schools in the Philippines: Experiences and Challenges,” under Session 3: Health, Well-being, Social Justice, and Transformative Education.
Ms. Maribelle Espiritu Lobendino contributed through a poster presentation on “Pedestrian Activity and Perceptions in Tactical Urbanism: Comparative Evidence from Two Philippine Corridors,” co-authored with Engr. Julshabar Halil, also a NCTS REPS.
Additionally, Ms. Alorna Abao and Ms. Teresita Ronquillo supported the event by attending various sessions.
These contributions show how NCTS REPS support SDG-linked objectives by generating applied research that can guide safer transport environments and community-oriented planning. Through their participation in SULONG REPS 2025, NCTS continues to advance data-informed studies that strengthen UP Diliman’s commitment to knowledge creation and responsive public service.
