NCTS welcomes student interns from Adamson University

The National Center for Transportation Studies (NCTS) welcomes sixteen (16) Grade 12 students from Adamson University (AdU) to undergo their work immersion. Work immersion has been incorporated into their curriculum which is based on one of the goals of the K-12 Education program which aims to develop in learners the competencies, work ethics, and values relevant to pursuing further education and joining the world of work.

An orientation for the students regarding expectations, guidelines, and implementing details was held on April 17, 2023, at the Center, by Ms. Maribelle Lobendino, NCTS Student Affairs Coordinator. Also present in the event to welcome the students and provide them with the background on the Center’s activities were: Dr. Jun Castro, NCTS Director, Dr. John Justine Villar, Inclusive Transportation Group Head/Intelligent Transport Systems Laboratory Supervisor, Engr. Sheila Flor Javier, Training Group Head, Mr. Sahid Kamid, Traffic Engineering and Management Group Supervisor, Mr. Jerome Ballarta, Training Group Supervisor, and Mr. Julshabar Halil, Transportation Environment and Energy Group Supervisor.

The work immersion is scheduled for two weeks, from April 17-28, 2023, for a total of eighty (80) hours. The students are expected to achieve greater congruence between basic education and the nation’s development targets. Also, they are expected to gain practical experience in conducting research, producing knowledge products, and becoming familiar with the various career paths within the engineering industry.
