NCTS Welcomes Student Interns from UPIS

The National Center for Transportation Studies (NCTS) welcomes four (4) Grade 12 students from UP Integrated School (UPIS) to undergo internship. The NCTS was invited again by UPIS to be their partner institution for the on-campus practicum of the Grade 12 students in the Applied Sciences and Engineering (ASE) track. Several batches from the UPIS were hosted by the Center and as per their evaluation, their students had a good learning experience from NCTS. Furthermore, their acquisition of new knowledge, skills, and attitudes aided them in gaining a better understanding and appreciation of the work environment.

An orientation for the students regarding expectations, guidelines, and implementing details was held on December 4, 2023, at the Center, by Ms. Maribelle Lobendino, NCTS Student Affairs Coordinator. Also present from UPIS were: Asst. Prof. Luzviminda Tan and Asst. Prof. Eleanor Alma Jugueta. The students will stay at the Center for ten (10) working days, from December 4 to 15, 2023, to meet the required eighty (80) hours.

A courtesy call with Dr. Jun Castro, NCTS Director, was held on the same day.

The NCTS Internship Program aims to provide practical experience in conducting research, producing knowledge products, and becoming familiar with the various career paths within the engineering industry. Additionally, it aims to develop the learners’ competencies, work ethics, and values relevant to pursuing further education and entering the workforce.
