Transportation, Environment and Energy Group (TE&E)

The relationship between transportation, the environment and energy is well established. Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) covers thematic areas that specifically identifies the environmental and energy aspects of transportation such as those related to air quality and vehicle emissions, fuels and consumption, and people-centered systems and infrastructure. These relate and weave into other themes including the more traditional ones involving land use, safety, and even social equity. The scope of the Transportation, Environment and Energy (TE&E) Group includes but is not limited to performing analysis and the development of models relating transportation, environment and energy, with focus on transportation emissions and urban air quality management, vehicle emission factors and energy efficiency, and transportation energy demand. Travel behavior analysis and modelling, analysis of urban and regional transportation systems, active transport, transport safety, traffic and air quality surveys, transportation and traffic management, traffic impact assessment and local road vehicle standards remain as research and extension areas in cooperation with other groups and laboratories of the Center. Other activities include research and extension collaborations and linkages with other units of the university, academe, industry and civil society, forums and seminars, knowledge management and information services.
