The University of the Philippines National Center for Transportation Studies (UP NCTS) successfully conducted the Traffic Administration Course from February 2 to 6, 2026, at its training facility in Diliman, Quezon City. Designed as an introductory program on transport systems, the five-day course brought together professionals from the UP Traffic Management Office, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Quezon City, Quezon Province, Benguet, Bangued, and the City of Manila.
The program provided participants with a comprehensive foundation in key areas of transportation, including transport planning, public transport planning, traffic engineering, and traffic management. Through a combination of technical lectures, case discussions, and interactive sessions, participants gained an integrated understanding of how planning, operations, and policy frameworks contribute to efficient, safe, and sustainable mobility systems.
The course also fostered the exchange of operational experiences and local perspectives among participants, reinforcing the importance of collaboration and evidence-based approaches in addressing transport challenges across jurisdictions.
UP NCTS likewise acknowledged Mr. Dexter Cardenas, Head of the Quezon City Traffic and Transport Management Department and a graduate of the Center’s regular training program, who continues to demonstrate his appreciation of the course by consistently sending representatives from Quezon City to participate. He also attended the graduation program, underscoring his continued engagement with the Center. Such sustained collaboration reflects the value of professional partnerships in strengthening institutional capacity in transport and traffic management.
The successful completion of the course highlights UP NCTS’s commitment to developing transport professionals equipped with a holistic understanding of planning and management principles. Participants are expected to apply the knowledge and tools gained to enhance mobility, safety, and service delivery within their respective organizations.
