The UP National Center for Transportation Studies (UP NCTS) conducted the Traffic Management for Traffic Law Enforcers – Level I training program from May 18 to 22, 2026, at UP Diliman, Quezon City. The five-day program was attended by 50 participants from Palayan City, Victorias City in Negros Occidental, Surigao City, Antipolo City, Cagayan de Oro City, Libmanan, Laoag City, Pasay City, Batac City, Quezon City, Porac, San Jose in Occidental Mindoro, Angadanan, La Trinidad, Ilagan City, the Provincial Government of Isabela, Quezon, Palawan, the Philippine National Police, LTO Region 4A, and MPT South.
The training aimed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of traffic law enforcers in traffic management, traffic law enforcement, road safety, and public service. Participants learned from distinguished resource persons, namely Atty. Mercy Jane Paras Leynes, Rear Admiral Oliver S. Tanseco, Ret. PSUPT Peter N. Dionisio, Engr. Aileen U. Mappala, EnP. Jerome Ballarta, Mr. Sahid A. Kamid and Engr. Julshabar U. Halil, who shared their expertise on traffic laws, traffic law enforcement procedures, traffic operations, and road safety.
Aside from lectures and discussions, participants took part in practical exercises, including the Traffic Direction and Control exercise inside the UP Diliman campus and the Road Crash Investigation exercise. These activities allowed them to apply classroom concepts in realistic situations and better appreciate the challenges of traffic enforcement on the ground.
Conducted in observance of Road Safety Month, the program emphasized the important role of traffic law enforcers as road safety frontliners. As this is only Level I, UP NCTS looks forward to welcoming the participants again in Levels II and III to further deepen their competencies in traffic management and enforcement.
