UPNCTS Showcases Innovative Solutions and Collaborates with Stakeholders in ULAP Convergence Series on Local Public Transportation

The University of the Philippines National Center for Transportation Studies (UPNCTS) was represented at the ULAP Convergence Series: Empowering LGUs for Improved Local Public Transportation, which was held on April 27, 2023, at The Westin Manila in Mandaluyong City. Dr. John Justine Villar, the head of the Inclusive Transport Group and a research and extension fellow from the ITS Laboratory, presented on “Towards Data-Driven Transportation for an Efficient and Safer Philippines,” sharing innovative policies and solutions for local public transportation.

Joining Dr. Villar were two other representatives from UPNCTS: Dr. Sandy Mae A. Gaspay, head of the Traffic Engineering and Management Group, and Engr. Sheila Flor D. Javier, head of the Training Unit of the center. The UPNCTS representatives actively engaged with event attendees by promoting the activities of the center and exchanging ideas and insights on local public transportation.

The ULAP Convergence Series aims to promote collaboration and partnership between the government and the private sector to address pressing issues in local governance, including transportation. Through the participation of UPNCTS, the event was able to showcase academic perspectives and expertise on local public transportation, contributing to a more holistic and collaborative approach to improving transport services in the country
