The UP National Center for Transportation Studies (UP NCTS) successfully concluded its Advanced Traffic Administration Course from July 31 to August 4, 2023, focusing on sustainable transportation planning, engineering and traffic administration. The program equipped 19 participants from various government and private sectors with the knowledge and skills to create a greener and more efficient future for transportation in the Philippines.
The course covered diverse topics, including land use and travel demand forecasting, public transportation planning, environmentally sustainable transportation strategies and policies, transportation laws and regulations, physical distribution and logistics and introduction to transportation project development and evaluation. An engaging workshop required participants to assess low-carbon transportation modes, such as the City Bus Augmentation Program, Bike Lane Network Project, and Electric Tricycle Program of Quezon City, while creating 30-second videos to promote them sustainably.
A field visit to Quezon City Hall showcased successful EST initiatives, inspiring participants to implement eco-friendly practices in their communities.
The program’s impact is expected to drive positive change and contribute significantly to a sustainable transportation landscape in the Philippines.
